Oasis Smokehouse opening in former Garland Road auto shop

Oasis Smokehouse_construction

Oasis Smokehouse, an indoor-outdoor restaurant featuring American classics along with on-site smoked central Texas-style barbecue, should open late winter or early spring at the corner of Lakeland and Garland Road.

The restaurant replaces Personal Touch Tree Service, which moved last spring to Samuell near Ferguson, andRoss and Greenville Automotive, which recently moved a bit further north to the corner of Lochwood and Garland Road. Both lots are owned by Jack Keller of Keller’s Drive-In, who said a couple of years ago that he would like to see a restaurant on the property that caters to the neighborhood and those visiting the Dallas Arboretum across the street.

One of the owners, Jeremy DeLeon of Hangar Group, says the owners are “local Dallas friends and seasoned hospitality veterans.” They are recycling and reformatting the existing auto shop structure as well as adding onto it to create a 2,700-square-foot indoor space and patios with seating for 120-130. An additional 15,000 square feet outdoors will seat another 150-200 people. The site also will have room for roughly 70 vehicles.

The Garland-Lakeland corner property is flanked on the north side by a 15,000-square-foot piece property the City of Dallas acquired from the arboretum in 2014, which sits between the future Oasis Smokehouse andWalton’s Garden Center. It also backs up to several residential homes on Angora in Little Forest Hills.

DeLeon emphasizes that Oasis will be “family-friendly” and promises to give us more details as construction moves along.
