First, it was Casa Linda Plaza. Next, it was on the southwest corner of Gaston and Garland. Then, there was talk about a restaurant in both places.
Finally, it looks as if Chick-fil-A has decided to build its new neighborhood restaurant on the site of the former Legal Directories Publishing building, 9111 Garland Road and Oldgate, nestled next to a Sonic Drive-In and Mid-South Bank, on the other side of a strip shopping center from Barbec’s, and across the street from Richardson Bike Mart.
The Chick-fil-A deal is still being hammered out, so as with any real estate deal, there’s always a chance the deal dies before being completed; at the earliest, we’ll see a new restaurant there in late 2016.
Carmel Car Wash, however, appears locked into the property since the site plan is being approved and permitted by the city right now.
The Garland Road Carmel Car Wash — same owner as the one at 6140 E. Mockingbird Lane, as well as 11 other locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area — will have a single tunnel to wash cars (the Mockingbird location has two shorter tunnels), an inside waiting area (the Mockingbird store doesn’t have one) and about three times the number of exterior parking spaces for additional washing, vacuuming and detailing.
